Local Liberal Democrats have welcomed the decision by Warrington Council to delay work on the Local Plan. Liberal Democrats in Warrington vow to challenge the Government's power grab on planning. They have warned that the Government's planning proposals will "disempower" local authorities like Warrington and allow developers to run roughshod over local communities' wishes.
Warrington's latest investment in Together Energy, by acquiring customers from the failed Bristol Energy, needs more explanation than the Leader of the Council appears willing to give. For the Council's leadership to press on with investing hundreds of millions of borrowed pounds in ventures seen as risky and speculative without adequate explanation is breathtaking.
The Liberal Democrats are committed to supporting British farming to continue safeguarding our environment and producing the high quality food we all want for generations to come.
We cannot let the Conservatives make the people who can least afford it pay for their mistakes and economic chaos.
