Warrington Council has given unanimous support to a new approach to housing put forward by the Liberal Democrats. All Councillors voted in favour of a motion to set up a new Housing Policy Committee at the last meeting before the local elections.
We supported the 4.98% increase in Council Tax proposed by the Labour administration at the Budget Council. Once again, the Conservatives did not offer a serious alternative.
We are angry with the repeated, often incomplete and inaccurate, reports in the media, fed by local informants, about Warrington being on the verge of bankruptcy. This is bad for the town’s reputation and must be causing damage.
The Inquiry has been adjourned yet again due to a late challenge to the Local Plan.
Warrington Liberal Democrats are calling for better communications and clarity from the Council on the bin crisis, writes Group Leader Cllr Bob Barr. Information on the website has improved of late, but not everyone looks at websites or social media.
At a recent Council meeting we called for more to be done to promote Warrington as a Major Economic Centre, expressing concern that the decision to scrap the northern part of HS2 would mean the town was bypassed.
