Our candidates won with big majorities in last week’s by-elections for Appleton Parish Council.

These vacancies came about because of a resignation and a councillor being removed for non-attendance. The full results were as follows:

Cobbs & Hillcliffe

Laura Booth (Liberal Democrat): 1400
Stephen Taylor (Conservative): 420

Turnout 27.6%

Thorn

Helen Speed (Liberal Democrat): 232
Joe Doherty (Independent): 110

Turnout 24.5%

Our thanks to all the residents who put their faith in us. These were amazing results with one of us winning 77% of the vote and the other 68%. It is a testament to the reputation of Liberal Democrat councillors for working hard on behalf of residents, keeping in touch and getting things done. We will keep up the good work and firmly believe that Parish Councils can make a real difference to peoples’ lives.
