Lib Dem MEP visits Stockton Heath for recession update1.48.49pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 29th May 2009
Warrington's Liberal Democrat MEP Chris Davies toured local businesses in Stockton Heath this month to hear how they are getting by in tough economic times. Jo Crotty, Warrington South's Lib Dem Prospective MP who joined Mr Davies said, "Chris knows how important it is to stay in touch with the needs of people in places like Stockton Heath." "I am pleased to hear so much good news from these independent businesses," said Davies. "They are coping well despite the recession thanks to good management. We have to make sure we are doing all we can to help small businesses" "In the EU, Liberal Democrats are working to get a fair deal on gas and electricity charges to bring down costs for businesses and residents, and we're working towards ensuring visitors to the UK have an easier time shopping with debit cards." The popular Warrington Euro-MP paid visits to Samuel Peter Hairdressing, the Nail Room on London Road and then finished at local restaurant Tom@101. Davies has also been leading the campaign for new green technology funding in the European Parliament - money for which could be invested here in the North West. He is currently collecting signatures on a petition to make MEP expenses more open to the public. You can view the petition at www.chrisdaviesmep.org.uk
